2026 FEA Annual Conference Pre-Con
Rethinking the Organizational Conduct Model: Strategy, Structure, and Partnerships

Brought to you by FEA and Lumen Leadership Strategies

Intended Audience (one or more):

  • Senior-level conduct staff
  • Conduct staff with decision authority
  • Conduct staff who are newer to a role but have at least two years of professional experience

Session Description:

This preconference is designed for fraternity and sorority conduct, harm reduction and chapter services staff who are responsible for organizational conduct systems and university partnerships and are interested in rethinking and strengthening their overall conduct model. Rather than focusing on individual cases or investigative techniques, this session focuses on organizational conduct strategy—how headquarters structures decision-making, engages volunteers and boards, partners with universities, and builds systems that are consistent, fair, and sustainable across a multi-campus environment.

Participants will be introduced to a strategic framework for organizational conduct that addresses decision authority, escalation models, case flow and throughput, staff and volunteer roles, documentation and process fidelity, and appeals. The session will also explore building volunteer and board understanding and buy-in for conduct processes and navigating complex institutional relationships, including working effectively with university administrators and general counsel when organizational processes and institutional processes intersect.

Throughout the session, participants will engage in a structured review of their current conduct model and identify areas where their systems may be creating inconsistency, delays, role confusion, or risk. The preconference is designed as a working session, and participants will leave with a practical framework they can use to evaluate and strengthen their organizational conduct system, improve staff and volunteer alignment, and build more effective partnerships with university stakeholders.

Participants will leave with:

  • A framework for evaluating and redesigning their organizational conduct model
  • Clearer approaches to decision authority, escalation, and appeals
  • Strategies for coaching staff and aligning volunteers and boards within conduct processes
  • Approaches for building productive relationships with universities, including general counsel
  • A systems-level perspective to help ensure conduct processes are consistent, fair, and sustainable
